LoL Worlds History
The first edition of the League of Legends World Championship occurred in Sweden in 2011, just two years after the game was released. Many competitive games never reach this level. Instead of becoming esports, they continue to be played casually or die out after several years. But League of Legends rapidly gained popularity and started to be played professionally. By 2012, it already had the LoL World Championship with a total prize pool of $2 million.
The growth was driven by multiple factors and not just by the excellent qualities of the game. LoL is a successor of a Warcraft III game mod known as Defense of the Ancients, whose community largely transitioned to it after its release in 2009.
The first LoL Worlds event was won by Fnatic and the second one by Taipei Assassins. However, by establishing the Chinese and South Korean leagues, these two regions took over the game completely. Combined, they have won the last nine editions of LoL Worlds.
So far, the most successful team in the history of the LoL World Championship has been T1, previously known as SK Telekom T1. This organization has participated in four Grand Finals and won three of them with renowned player Faker leading the charge. LoL Worlds 2022 took place in Mexico City and was won by DRX in a shocking finale, beating T1 to the punch. T1 have since returned to form though, winning LoL Worlds 2023 ahead of Weibo Gaming.

LoL Worlds Betting Guide
League of Legends Worlds matches are always spicier if you bet on them, but getting started with LoL Worlds betting can be overwhelming when you're getting started. Here are some of our general League of Legends betting tips to use as your holy grail when placing any bets on the MOBA.
Play the game yourself!
LoL is free to download and play, so you can see how it works firsthand. This is by far the best way to learn how the game works. What are the obvious meta champions right now, who are throw picks, and which dragons have the best buffs? These valuable questions will give you insight when placing your LoL Worlds bets and give you an upper hand over others with LoL betting.
Follow the draft carefully before each match takes place.
The champions picked by each team determine a lot about individual games and their results. You can use your big-brain game knowledge to make an educated wager about which team will win based on their initial champion selection!
Study the game’s professional circuit.
You should pay particular attention to its four major regions: China, South Korea, Europe, and North America, as these are historically the most successful and popular. The first two of these regions have been the strongest in recent years. But the world of professional League of Legends changes quickly! Always watch the latest LoL news and pay attention to free online sources like Leaguepedia and Twitter for the newest info on teams and roster changes.
Follow pundits/LoL content creators.
Each year, before the hype of Worlds, the best esports pundits usually start creating content about the tournament and its favorite teams to win. You will find plenty of analysis videos on YouTube, offering a unique perspective you may not have considered before!
Analyzing VODs of previous tournaments will also give you valuable insights into how each team performs under pressure!
Choose the right LoL Worlds betting sites!
This is a super important tip; finding the best LoL Worlds betting sites can be the difference between you bagging a jackpot, or going home with nothing. Keep an eye out for websites that are fully-licensed, trusted, regulated, that will put your online safety first with no dodgy features. -cough- I'd say Rivalry fits the bill out of all the League of Legends betting sites out there!
